In a move that many New Jersey online poker players have been waiting for since the industry launched a little over a year ago, 888 and WSOP.com announced on Monday that the two sites would begin immediately sharing liquidity amongst some players.

According to a press release put out by WSOP’s Seth Palansky, “Online poker players in New Jersey will benefit from increased prize guarantees for tournaments and a greater number of players available for cash games.”

While the entire player pools of the two regulated New Jersey online poker sites won’t be combined, certain tournaments will share liquidity in addition to low and micro-limit cash games. VIP programs and reward schemes will continue to function separately.

Bill Rini, Head of Online Poker for WSOP.com, remarked of the move, “It is important we continue to experiment and look for new ways to create stickiness. Customers used to playing on our site will not notice anything different, except more robust action and bigger prize pools.”

“We also hope this will help expand the market by offering more variety,” Rini said.

Beginning at once, 888 and WSOP.com will offer $130,000 in guaranteed weekly tournaments. The weekly and nightly multi-table tournaments will be run on the following schedule:

  • $5,000 Nightly – 9pm EST
  • $10,000 Nightly – 7pm EST
  • $10,000 Sunday – 8pm EST
  • $25,000 Sunday – 3pm EST

The cash games available will be:

  • No Limit Texas Hold’em tables with stakes up to $0.25/$0.50
  • Fixed Limit Texas Hold’em tables with stakes up to $0.50/$1.00
  • All Sit & Go’s with buy-ins up to $5

Players must be physically located in New Jersey to take part and must be over the legal age of 21 years old.
