For Just $86, You Could Become The Next Moneymaker At PokerStars NJ
Anyone that’s ever played a hand of poker will have dreamt of following in the footsteps of Chris Moneymaker.
The unassuming accountant from Atlanta, Ga., defied the odds back in 2003 and turned a satellite ticket into the American Dream. After carving his way through a stacked field in the $10,000 WSOP Main Event, Moneymaker found himself heads-up against veteran pro Sammy Farha.
Despite the magnitude of the task in front of him, Moneymaker remained cool, calm, and collected as he bluffed his way to the title. As the confetti fell and the amateur took stock of his achievement and the $2.5 million windfall, few could predict what was to follow.
By the time his victory hit the headlines, interest swelled and the rest, as they say, is history.
Thank you, Mr. Moneymaker
Put simply, the US poker industry owes a debt of gratitude to Moneymaker. Were it not for his win, the game may not have caught the interest of the masses, and we may not be where we are today.
Although players and industry insiders have thanked Moneymaker over the years, PokerStars doesn’t think that’s enough. To mark the 15th anniversary of the win that changed poker, PokerStars has created the Moneymaker PSPC Tour. Kicking off on Aug. 4 and traveling across the US, the new tournament series will cater specifically for those that dare to dream.
“It’s been 15 years since the big win and it only feels like yesterday. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life and I want to give someone else the opportunity to feel that winningmoment. Now US fans will have the chance to win an amazing prize and have some fun along the way,” said the 2003 WSOP World Champion.
OK, so that’s the preamble and hyperbole. Now here are the facts.
The Moneymaker PSPC Tour will consist of nine tournaments. To ensure the action is accessible to all levels, the buy-ins will be an affordable $86. Of course, that’s not a coincidence. Prior to the start of the 2003 WSOP, Moneymaker won his seat in the Main Event for less than $100.
For many, that’s one of the most successful parlays of all time.
Your chance to do a Moneymaker
With this in mind, PokerStars wants you to have the same opportunity.
As well as offering some generous prize pools, each tournament will have a Platinum Pass up for grabs. Worth $30,000 and giving the winner access to the $25,000 PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC), the pass could be your ticket to Moneymaker-like feats.
As we’ve said, the cards go in the air on Aug. 4 inside Stones Gambling Hall, Citrus Heights, Calif. From here, the tour will stop at the following locations:
- Aug. 19 – 26, 2018 – Lucky Chances, Colma, California
- Sept. 9, 2018 – Foxwoods Resort Casino, Mashantucket, Connecticut
- Sept. 15, 2018 – MGM National Harbor, Oxon Hill, Maryland
- Sept. 22, 2018 – Gardens Casino, Hawaiian Gardens, California
- Sept. 23, 2018 – Talking Stick, Scottsdale, Arizona
- Sept. 30, 2018 – PokerStarsNJ.com
- Oct. 7, 2018 – Mohegan Sun, Uncasville, Connecticut
- Oct. 10-14, 2018 – Maryland Live, Hanover, Maryland
Claim a bonus and get even more bang for your buck
Unsurprisingly, we’re hot on the online stop.
With PokerStars NJ continuing to prove its one of the premium poker sites in New Jersey, this one is bound to be a success. In fact, if you’re quick off the mark, you can use our sign-up link to claim an exclusive bonus.
As long as you’re a new player, you can follow the link and use the bonus code FREE30 to receive $30 on us.
This deal isn’t available anywhere else and is the perfect way to make your dreams come true for even less. For instance, when you deposit $20 and activate the deal, you’ll receive $20 in bonus cash and $10 to spend on Spin & Go tournaments. First off, this means your effective balance is $40. Additionally, you have the opportunity to win even more money from your tournament tickets.
Of course, if you win something substantial, you might not have to pay the $86 entry fee at all. However, even if these shots come to nothing, you could still be almost 50 percent of the way there with your deposit and bonus alone.
Value that’s fit for Moneymaker
As a poker player, you should be looking to squeeze the most EV out of every situation and, in our opinion, this is one way to do that. Naturally, this doesn’t mean you’re out of luck if you’re already a PokerStars NJ player.
Because the buy-in is so low compared to what you can win, there’s still a ton of value in this MTT.
Could you be the next Chris Moneymaker? Well, there’s only one way to find out, and that’s to take part in the new Moneymaker PSPC Tour.
